Support for Enhancing Accountability in Water and Sanitation Sector to address risks of WASH Project

WAVE Foundation recently started a new project named 'Support for Enhancing Accountability in Water and Sanitation Sector to address risks of WASH'. This project is supported by the Water Integrity Network (WIN). Field-level interventions are being implemented in Khulna and Rajshahi City Corporation and policy advocacy also will be conducted at the National level. The main objectives of the project are to push for reform through policy and advocacy.

Implementation of water and sanitation integrity projects in Bangladesh

NGO Forum and Water Integrity Network (WIN) have worked together over the last five years and established a successful collaboration with the aim to strengthening integrity measures and processes within the Water Supply and Sewerage Authorities (WASAs) in Bangladesh. A water and sanitation integrity projects have already been implemented in three WASAs Rajshahi WASA, Khulna WASA and Chattogram WASA in and successfully introduced the IM tools.

WASA Project

Since 2014, under the umbrella of the Bangladesh Water Integrity Network (BAWIN), key partners the Water Integrity Network, the NGO Forum, and cewas have been implementing an Integrity Management Project with the Water Supply and Sewerage Authorities of three cities: Khulna (KWASA), Chittagong (CWASA), and Rajshahi (RWASA). The project supports water institutions in Bangladesh in addressing integrity risks by using the InWASH approach, which is built on integrity assessment and management, with the goal of both strengthening integrity and improving performance.

School WASH Project

Since 2017, the Development Organization of the Rural Poor (DORP) and the Water Integrity Network (WIN) have been working together to understand if and how integrity issues affect WASH services in Bangladesh’s schools, using the Annotated Water Integrity Scan (AWIS) tool. The Tool was implemented in thirty schools in two hard-to-reach sub-districts (upazilas) in the Southern part of the country: Bhola Sadar of Bhola District and Ramgati of Lakshmipur District.
